Is it too late to implement sustainability in business?
No, even if your initial goal when starting your business wasn’t to plant as many trees as possible, it is never too late to implement sustainability in business.
No matter what you sell, there are always ways to be more sustainable. Not only will you feel as though you’re doing your bit, but it can often improve your cash flow, especially in the long run.
To help you on your journey to becoming a more sustainable business, we’ve put together four ways you can implement it in your business.
-
Stop Single-use
This year at PPS we recently made the switch from single-use plastic cups and decided to invest in branded water bottles for the team. By doing this, not only are we saving money, but we are also cutting down on the use of single-use plastics and the amount of rubbish that goes to landfill, which in turn, reduces the business’s carbon footprint. Our team is also staying hydrated!

Even though cardboard is said to be better for the environment, cardboard can only be recycled between 5-7 times before the fibers turn into a pulp and can no longer be used or recycled. Our PPS trays are proven to provide a 52% reduction in Co2 compared to cardboard boxes. This is because our trays are built to last and can be used hundreds of times over.
So even though you’re thinking you’re making a difference by using cardboard boxes, the cost of having to replace the cardboard once it is broken will be costing you a lot more money in the long run.
If you are looking for long-lasting, hassle-free, clean pallets and crate hire which can be delivered as and when you need them, get in touch with our team or get a quote today.
By choosing PPS, you can spend the difference on other areas of your business.

The power of hybrid working
Ever think about how much environmental damage our cars do every day, then times that by every member of staff that you have. That’s a whole lot of damage, right?
We have recently just finished a trial of hybrid working in the PPS offices and we have decided to keep hybrid working in place. We certainly recommend that if it is possible that you should do the same. Just having your team work from home 2 days a week, can have a massive impact on your business’s carbon footprint, and as long as productivity isn’t lacking, your team will also no doubt appreciate you for this. Everyone appreciates saving on fuel!

Ban paper in the office
You may find that you’re already doing this without even realizing it. The power of email and messaging nowadays means we can send documents and pictures back and forth to each other a lot faster and easier than ever before.
So again, banning the use of paper could be a very easy one for your business and have a huge impact. However, on the off chance, you need to print then just make sure you are doing it in the correct way, by shredding and recycling, and don’t forget to recycle your empty ink cartridges too!
